Kit Contents
- 1 x EKH01 unit
- 1 x 802.11ah 1dB Gain Dipole HaLow antenna
- 1 x USB Type C to AC power adapter
- 1 x RJ45 Ethernet cable
Quick Setup Steps
- Attach the supplied antenna to the gold-screw connector at the top of the EKH01 unit (Label '1')
- Plug in the power adapter to the USB Type C port on the EKH01 (Label '2')
- Once power is supplied, it should take the device around 60 seconds to boot up and be operational
- Connect one end of the provided Ethernet cable to your laptop, and the other end to the Ethernet port on the EKH01 (Label '3')
- Open up your supported web browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari) and browse http://10.42.0.1 in the URL bar
-
Login to the Web GUI with:
- user: root
- password: <leave empty>
- *Note that this IP will need to be accessible from the PC. Please ensure that the Ethernet interface on the laptop is configured as a DHCP Client (this is usually default, so often no change is required)
- Select the HaLow Region and optionally, the Router Password (which controls SSH and web access)
Configure the Device as an Access Point
-
While going through the setup wizard, choose Access Point for Mode Selection
- Click the Next button at the bottom right to go to the next page.
- Setup HaLow Network - AP has a default SSID/passphrase of MorseMicro / 12345678. This can be changed if needed. Bandwidth and Channel can be left as default. Then click Next
- Upstream Network should be None. Click Next
- Lastly, click Apply to set your configuration
Configure the Device as a Station/Client:
- *Note that if you wish to connect a Station/Client to the Access Point which was set up in the previous section, then you will need two EKH01 kits
- *Note that if you are using the same laptop to setup the Station/Client, disconnect your laptop from the Ethernet interface of your Access Point so that its IP address doesn't clash with the Client IP
- While going through the setup wizard, choose Client for Mode Selection
- On the Connect to a HaLow Network page, choose 'Manual Credentials' and then Scan to find the SSID you entered for your Access Point. Then enter the passphrase which was configured for your Access Point
- For Traffic Mode, select 'None' or the option which isn't 'Bridge' and click Next
- Once you have saved the configuration (by clicking 'Apply'), you should disconnect your laptop from the Station and connect it to the Access Point. You can return to the Station's admin interface by inspecting the Active DHCP Leases on the Status page of the Access Points' admin interface
